A Brief History
1 9 6 9
February
Establishment of Singapore Technologies Electronics Ltd (ST Electronics), then known as Singapore Electronic & Engineering Pte Ltd (SEEL) as a Company.
With Philips Industries of Australia as managing agents, the company started operations with about 220 local staff and a dozen UK civilians and naval experts.
August
The Instrument Calibration Centre (ICC) started operation in the British Royal Naval Dockyard at Sembawang formerly known as the Weapons and Radio Organisation.
ST Electronics was mainly involved in the maintenance of electronic equipment.
1 9 7 5
- In January, obtained approval from Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).
- Commencement of work on Industrial Instrumentation.
1 9 8 2
- Incorporation of ST Electronics as a subsidiary of Singapore Aerospace Ltd, then known as Singapore Aircraft Industries (SAI).
- In October, obtained approval from US Navy as approved calibration house.

- Re-location of head office from Sembawang to the present Ang Mo Kio premises.

- In April, obtained accreditation for ICC, under the laboratory accreditation scheme from SISIR (now SPRING). This scheme was then based on ISO/IEC
Guide 25.
1 9 8 9
- Restructuring of Singapore Technologies Holdings where ST Electronics was transferred from the Aerospace to the industrial sector of Singapore Technologies (formerly Sheng-Li) under STIC.

- In December, ST Electronics obtained Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Certification from SISIR. This certification was before the ISO 9000 Certification.

- In January, ST Electronics obtained ISO 9000 Certification from PSB (previously SISIR).

September
- ST Engg was inducted into the Singapore Quality Class (SQC).
December
- ST Electronics went under the umbrella of Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engg), an amalgamated engineering arm of Singapore Technologies Group.
ST Engg is formed by four component companies namely Singapore Technologies Aerospace, Singapore Technologies Automotive, Singapore Technologies Electronics and Singapore Technologies Marine.

- ST Engg won the prestigious Singapore Quality Award (SQA).
- In March, ST Electronics obtained certification to ISO 9001:2000.
- In April, ICC upgraded to ISO 17025 under the SAC-SINGLAS Laboratory Accreditation Scheme.
